Making Green Living A Part of Everyday Life

While choosing nzymSys environmentally responsible products over synthetic chemicals is a good start, there are many simple changes that can be made in your everyday routine to keep you on the path to green living.

Most waste disposal companies provide recycling bins for paper, glass and plastic, but when they're out back or in the garage they don't always get used as they should. Instead of one large garbage container in your kitchen, keeping multiple smaller waste baskets makes recycling easy. And as long as we are in the kitchen, why not have another container for vegetable scraps for your compost pile.

Speaking of compost piles, they are one of the simplest ways of recycling grass clippings, leaves and other yard debris. Compost piles require very little attention, can be made for little or no cost and there is something very satisfying about putting your own homemade dark rich compost on your garden. To water that garden, how about using a rain barrel to catch water off your roof? With a simple hose faucet installed at the bottom, you have a free water supply.

I'm sure you're already using programmable thermostats (if you're not, you should be). Try lowering the temperature a degree or two in the winter and raising it a degree or two in the summer. You probably won't feel the difference, but you will notice it on your energy bill.

Run you dishwasher and washing machines only when full and on energy saving settings.

Change your bulbs from incandescent to compact fluorescent. The newer bulbs reach full brightness instantly and have more natural color.

This is just a sample of the many simple tips that I will bring to you regularly in our blog to help you on the path to Green Living Made Simple.
